Updates for Windows 2000 (KB904368)

FYI

Every W2K machine that has had this update installed on our network
didn't shut down properly after the required reboot via WSUS.

Luckly the situation doesn't appear to be permanent. I assume other
people have had similar experiences? MS I think you need to withdrawl
and/or update this patch.

Accordingly to the meta data this patch isn't superceeded, but I now
find out on the website that "version 2 of Update Rollup 1 for Windows
2000 SP4" might?

Yes, version 2 of the Update Rollup 1 for Windows 2000 SP4 includes a fix
for saving office documents to floppies. By the way, I don't think v2 will
apply thru SUS/WSUS if the machine already received v1.

Yep that's what I see Neo. Looks like V1 of the rollup update sticks
and V2 doesn't get applied if V1 is installed.

What I see KB904368 prevents Windows 2000 from shutting down properly,
and it may or may not be a symptom of Rollup 2 not being installed.
Whatever the case may be, the metadata on KB904368 appears to be wrong
(it doesn't state it is superceeded by any update). Microsoft please
take note if you read this forum. Something to look into.

Maybe the default behaviour needs to be changed, perhaps the V2 rollup
needs to be installed regardless of whether V1 is installed or not?
